The death of an American woman in a race to complete all 8,000m peaks and of her Nepalese guide can't be blamed on inexperience: avalanches can hit anyone, and Migmar Sherpa was an expert mountaineer. But the fact that non-climbers are up in the death zone makes you wonder... What business do they have up there, and what controls could there be in place to protect the environment, the sherpas and the clients?
